Yesterday was the final day on the exhibition floor at the DIA 2016 Annual Meeting. Between the thought-provoking presentations, networking, and interacting with attendees at our booth, it has been, as it always is, a great experience. Adding to the buzz at our booth and Innovation Theater presentation – this year, we were pleased to make two big announcements..
Are you planning attend the DIA Annual Meeting later this month in Washington, DC? For those of us working in drug research and development, it’s a great time to connect with the people and organizations working to accelerate the development of new therapies and enhance patient care.
Again this year I was privileged to participate in the Women’s Clinical Leadership Dinner, hosted by the Partnerships in Clinical Trials Conference. With so many women in life sciences leadership roles here in Boston, it was fitting to gather right in our own backyard. (And for those of you who missed the dinner, look for it again next spring at Partnerships in Boston.)
Members of the BBK Worldwide team periodically attend industry events throughout the year. We love to network and learn from our peers, and when we are invited to speak we jump at the opportunity to bring our own expertise to the table and join in the conversation.
The 2015 annual SCOPE Summit for Clinical Ops Executives was a tremendous success. It was great to see some of the clinical trial industry’s elite presenting on some amazing initiatives to raise awareness of clinical research. In thinking about all of the collaborative discussions that took place at the conference this year (and there were many), the following are three key takeaways that represent an exciting future for patient centricity within the clinical research industry.

This year’s Consumer Electronics (CES) show, which took place January 6 – 9 in Las Vegas, highlighted some of the latest and greatest in up-and-coming healthcare technology. The following is a recap of just a few of our favorites coming out of the show.
"I Wish I Had Breast Cancer"
Meet Kerry Harvey. 24 years old. And diagnosed with pancreatic cancer – a cancer with which she only has a 3% chance of living another 12 months. Kerry wants you to know that she suffers from “cancer envy” (Pancreatic Cancer Action). She never imagined she’d feel envious of someone suffering from breast cancer, a condition with an 85% survival rate, but Kerry faces the grim prognosis of metastatic pancreatic cancer, a condition with an average life expectancy of up to six months and one that only receives 1% of research funding.
“Yes, the strap line is hard hitting and may even offend someone but it does compel you to read on – which is what we need people to do if we are to change the fortunes of pancreatic cancer (Ali Stunt of Pancreatic Cancer Action).”
Embracing the hustle and bustle as summer comes to a close, BBK will be leading sessions at three key industry events beginning with Patient-Centered Clinical Trials 2014, to be held at the Hyatt Regency Hotel in Boston, September 4-5. Patient recruitment experts Bonnie A. Brescia, Matthew Stumm, and Aaron Fleishman will share insights on the benefits of employing an effective patient engagement strategy, and how a variety of tactics - from media to mobile apps - can be used to drive study participation and overall trial success.
